Emmanuel Umpula Nkumba
Executive Director | Board Member

Emmanuel N. Umpula is a lawyer and the Executive Director of AFREWATCH. He has extensive expertise in business law, human rights, and extractive-sector governance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and across Africa. He contributed to the revision of the Congolese Mining Code and has supported communities in major human rights and environmental justice cases.

Emmanuel serves on the boards of RAID, Resource Matters, and ACCA. He is also the founder of the Congo River School, CEO of MUN Consulting, and the author of several reports on human rights and environmental governance.

Jean-Pierre Lwamba
Director of the Human Rights Program | Board Member

Jean-Pierre Lwamba is Director of the Human Rights Program, a human rights advocate and researcher specialising in extractive industry governance and sustainable development. His work focuses on corporate social responsibility and community development.

He supports local communities through training, capacity building, and advocacy, helping them organise and strengthen their collective voice. With extensive experience in the Congolese extractive sector, he has led research, contributed to investigative reports, and promoted responsible mining practices that benefit local communities.

Jean-Louis Kalolo
Finance & Admistration Director | Board Member

Jean-Louis Kalolo is a finance professional with expertise in financial management, compliance, and strategic planning, focusing on strengthening governance and promoting sustainable development.
He holds an MBA from Western Governors University (2025).

 

Dr. Eric Sona

Dr. Eric Sona is a family physician and health system leader with over 15 years of experience in clinical care and healthcare management across Africa and Canada. He brings expertise in health equity, governance, and system strategy to Afrewatch, with a strong commitment to advancing community wellbeing and accountable leadership.

Eric Ngang
Program Director | Team Member

Eric Ngang is an environmental governance specialist with over 15 years of experience in ESG research, natural resource governance, and policy engagement. He has collaborated with organizations such as Global Witness, the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), and civil society networks in Cameroon.

He holds a PhD in Environmental and Climate Policy from the University of Birmingham. His work focuses on strengthening community participation and advancing transparent and accountable natural resource governance.

Brytnee Laurette M. is a consultant with over 10 years of professional experience supporting research, program development, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Her work focuses on strengthening projects related to natural resource governance, sustainability, and community-centered development. Through her collaboration with AFREWATCH International, she contributes to advancing initiatives that promote transparency, responsible resource management, and inclusive development.
